Understanding Colour For Digital Photo Editing

Yet another video from the EasyPSE iPhone/iPad video tutorial app, available on the Apple iTunes Store. I've produced a video in the past on understanding RGB but revisited it for the EasyPse app.

Understanding how colour works, in the digital world, is essential when it comes to tweaking the colour in your images. This concept seems initially confusing to many but it need not be, and hopefully this video will clarify the subject for you.

Once mastered, rather than stuff around at random trying to get the colour on your photos looking natural you will be in a far better position to make educated "guesses" at what corrections are required.

  1. Color is a powerful tool in graphic design. It can be used to attract attention, organize content, emphasize elements, evoke emotion and help a design look aesthetically pleasing. But what colors should be used? In order to choose the right colors and color combinations, it is important that the graphic designer have a basic understanding of color theory. Color theory is the study of color in art and design, their relationships with each other and principles used to create harmonious color schemes.

  2. Color in photo editing is very subjective. What evokes one reaction in one person may evoke a very different reaction in someone else. Sometimes this is due to personal preference, and other times due to cultural background. Color theory is a science in itself. Studying how colors affect different people, either individually or as a group, is something some people build their careers on. And there’s a lot to it.

  3. Color phycology is a very important thing to consider. Every person has their own color psychology. So, during the color contrast creation in photo editing, it is important to consider this subject very carefully. Thanks for this informative post with us.
