Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald - On My Own HD

"On My Own" was a Billboard #1 hit duet by singers Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald when it was released as a single in 1986. It was released from LaBelle's first platinum album, Winner in You and was written and produced by Burt Bacharach and his former wife Carole Bayer Sager. The song was originally recorded by singer Dionne Warwick for inclusion on her album Friends. It is unclear why the song was not included on the final tracklist. The song was based on a relationship that had reached its end with both parties going their separate ways in a melancholy state with the occasional option of coming back together again one day.

It was often stated the two performers were in separate cities when they recorded their individual parts which were then "married" during mastering. This was reflected in the music video produced to promote the song, which depicted LaBelle and McDonald performing the song simultaneously on different coasts. The singers were shown on separate sides of a split screen, each singing the song while walking through apartments which had identical layouts but different decor and furniture. The views from their respective porches, where they finished the song, made clear their separation by the continent.

The song became the biggest single ever for both singers as it hit number one on the Billboard magazine pop, for 3 weeks, the R&B and Adult Contemporary charts, as well as number two in the UK singles chart, going gold - (it was the 22nd best-selling single of 1986 in the UK). The song was initially not intended to be a duet at all, but LaBelle decided to invite McDonald to help her turn the song into a duet, as she stated: "The song was sent to me and I did a version of it but somehow it just didn't quite work. We were going over things I'd done and we talked about turning it into a duet. Someone asked, 'If you could do it with anyone, who would you sing it with,' and Michael was my first choice..

Van Morrison - Queen of the Slipstream (tekster på dansk)

Goin 'væk langt over havet
Men jeg vil være tilbage for dig
Fortælle dig alt jeg kender
Baby alt er sandt

Vil blush stadig
På dine kinder min kærlighed
I lyset altid set
I dit hoved?
Guld og splint de placeres
På fødderne min kære
Men jeg ved, du valgte mig.
I stedet

Goin 'væk langt over havet
Men jeg vil være tilbage for dig
Fortælle dig alt jeg kender
Baby alt er sandt

Du er dronningen af slipstrømmen
Jeg elsker dig så
Du har krydset mange vande at være her
Og du drikker på springvand af uskyld
Og erfarne, du kender godt

Dean Martin - On An Evening In Roma (glamour slideshow)

Rolling Stones - Out Of Time (video slideshow) (lyrics)

You don't know what's going on
You've been away for far too long
You can't come back and think you are still mine
You're out of touch, my baby
My poor discarded baby
I said, baby, baby, baby, you're out of time

Well, baby, baby, baby, you're out of time
I said, baby, baby, baby, you're out of time
You are all left out
Out of there without a doubt
'Cause baby, baby, baby, you're out of time

You thought you were a clever girl
Giving up your social whirl
But you can't come back and be the first in line, oh no
You're obsolete my baby
My poor old-fashioned baby
I said baby, baby, baby you're out of time

Well, baby, baby, baby, you're out of time
I said, baby, baby, baby, you're out of time
Yes, you are left out
Out of there without a doubt
'Cause baby, baby, baby, you're out of time

I said,  baby, baby, you're out of time

Jonny Lang - Walking Away HD

Jonny Lang (born Jon Gordon Langseth, Jr., January 29, 1981) is a Grammy Award-winning American blues, gospel, and rock singer, songwriter, guitarist and recording artist. Lang's music is notable for both his unusual voice, which has been compared to that of a 40-year-old blues veteran, and for his guitar solos. His solo patterns have especially been noted for his frequent use of wide vibratos.

Jonny Lang was born in Fargo, North Dakota, United States. He started playing the guitar at the age of twelve, after his father took him to see the Bad Medicine Blues Band, one of the few blues bands in Fargo. Lang soon started taking guitar lessons from Ted Larsen, the band's guitar player. Several months after Lang began, he joined the band, which was then renamed Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang.

The band moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and independently released the album Smokin' when Lang was fourteen. Lang was signed to A&M Records in 1996. He released the critically acclaimed multi-platinum Lie to Me on January 28, 1997. The next album, Wander this World, was released on October 20, 1998 and earned a Grammy nomination. This was followed by the more soulful Long Time Coming on October 14, 2003. Lang also made a cover of Edgar Winter's "Dying to Live". Lang's 2006 album, the gospel influenced Turn Around, won him his first Grammy Award.

In his earliest performing years, Lang always performed barefoot on stage, because "it feels good" and once in tribute to Luther Allison, a friend who had recently died. He has since given up that practice, after several near-accidents and electrocutions.

In more than ten years on the road, Lang has toured with the Rolling Stones, Buddy Guy, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Blues Traveler, Jeff Beck and Sting. In 1999, he was invited to play for a White House audience including President and Mrs. Clinton. Lang also makes a cameo appearance in the film Blues Brothers 2000 as a janitor. In 2004, Eric Clapton asked Lang to play at the Crossroads Guitar Festival to raise money for the Crossroads Centre Antigua.

Lang also appears regularly as a part of the Experience Hendrix Tour along with many other well-known guitarists to pay tribute the deceased guitar legend.

Fleetwood Mac - Gypsy - HD

"Gypsy" is a song by the rock group Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks wrote the song originally circa 1979, and the earliest demo recordings were recorded in early 1980 with Tom Moncrieff for possible inclusion on her solo debut Bella Donna. However, when Nicks' friend Robin Anderson died of leukemia, the song took on a new significance and Nicks held it over for Fleetwood Mac. "Gypsy" was the second single release and second biggest hit from the Mirage album following Hold Me. "Gypsy" reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A cover version of the song was featured in the "Silent Knight" episode of the television series Knight Rider.

There are two points of inspiration behind "Gypsy," as stated by Stevie Nicks. The first of which is a point of nostalgia for Nicks; her life before Fleetwood Mac. Before joining the iconic band, Nicks lived with Lindsey Buckingham, who would also join Fleetwood Mac. Nicks and Buckingham were partners in both the musical and romantic sense, however, only their musical partnership has survived. Nicks met Buckingham at a high school party, where he was singing California Dreaming by the Mamas and the Papas. Nicks joined in with perfect harmony, then they introduced themselves. They didn't see each other again until college, where they started a relationship, and started a duo called Buckingham Nicks. They barely got by with Nicks' waitress and cleaning-lady income. They couldn't afford a bed frame, so they slept on a single mattress, directly on the floor. Nicks says the mattress was decorated in lace, with a vase and a flower at its side. When she feels her famous life getting to her, she goes "back to her roots," and takes her mattress off of the frame "back to the floor," that she loved, and decorates it with "some lace, and paper flowers."  It takes her back to the days when she had no wealth- back to herself as a poor gypsy. Some speculate the rest of this song is directed at Buckingham, assuming the lyric depict her leaving him. On March 31, 2009, Nicks gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly discussing the inspiration for the song:

"Oh boy, I've never really spoken about this, so I get verklempt, and then I've got the story and I start to screw it up. Okay: In the old days, before Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey [Buckingham] and I had no money, so we had a king-size mattress, but we just had it on the floor. I had old vintage coverlets on it, and even though we had no money it was still really pretty... Just that and a lamp on the floor, and that was it—there was a certain calmness about it. To this day, when I'm feeling cluttered, I will take my mattress off of my beautiful bed, wherever that may be, and put it outside my bedroom, with a table and a little lamp."

On March 25, 2009 during a show in Montreal on Fleetwood Mac's Unleashed Tour, Stevie Nicks gave a short history of the inspiration behind Gypsy. She explained it was written sometime in 1978-79, when the band had become "very famous, very fast," and it was a song that brought her back to an earlier time, to an apartment in San Francisco where she had taken the mattress off her bed and put it on the floor. To contextualize, she voiced the lyrics: "So I'm back, to the velvet underground. Back to the floor, that I love. To a room with some lace and paper flowers. Back to the gypsy that I was." Those are the words: 'So I'm back to the velvet underground' — which is a clothing store in downtown San Francisco, where Janis Joplin got her clothes, and Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane, it was this little hole in the wall, amazing, beautiful stuff — 'back to the floor that I love, to a room with some lace and paper flowers, back to the gypsy that I was.'

The second, and most emotional, subject of this song is the message as a tribute to someone's passing. On October 12, 1982, Robin Snyder Anderson, Stevie's best friend, died of leukemia.

Rolling Stones - Angie (Historic Photo Slideshow)

"Angie" is a song by rock and roll band The Rolling Stones, featured on their 1973 album Goats Head Soup.

Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and recorded in November and December 1972, "Angie" is an acoustic guitar driven ballad which tells of the end of a romance. Rolling Stones-recording regular Nicky Hopkins plays the song's distinctive piano accompaniment. The strings on the piece (as well as "Winter") were arranged by Nicky Harrison. One unusual feature of the original recording is that singer Mick Jagger's vocal guide track (made before the final vocals were performed) is faintly audible throughout the song (an effect sometimes called a "ghost vocal").

Released as a single in August 1973, "Angie" went straight to the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and reached number five on the UK singles chart. The song was also a #1 hit in both Canada and Australia for five weeks each and topped the charts in many countries throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Popular belief has it that the song was about David Bowie's first wife Angela or even about actress Angie Dickinson; but Richards' daughter Dandelion Angela had just been born, and the name is now claimed to have been one of Richards' contributions to the lyrics. The song was indeed written almost entirely both lyrically and musically by Keith Richards but it has also been claimed, in Richards own biography, that the name Angie is a pseudonym for heroin and his attempt while detoxing in Switzerland to once and for all "say good-bye".

The Rolling Stones have frequently performed the song in concert; it was included in set lists on their 1973, 1975 and 1976 tours, and on every tour since their 1982 European tour. Concert renditions have been released on the albums Stripped and Live Licks. Two music videos were shot to promote the song.

In the documentary Protagonist, the former German terrorist Hans-Joachim Klein explains that he adopted the moniker "Angie" during his militant activities in the 1970s in reference to the song. In 2005 the German party CDU used the song for its election campaign for Angela Merkel; the Rolling Stones had not given Merkel permission to use the song.

CCR - Who Will Stop The Rain (Eisenstaedt Historical Photo Slideshow) HD

Alfred Eisenstaedt (December 6, 1898 -- August 24, 1995) was a German-born American photographer and photojournalist. He is best known for his photograph of the V-J Day celebration  and for his candid photographs, frequently made using a 35mm Leica camera.
Eisenstaedt was born in Dirschau (Tczew) in West Prussia, Imperial Germany in 1898. His family moved to Berlin in 1906. Eisenstaedt was fascinated by photography from his youth and began taking pictures at age 14 when he was given his first camera, an Eastman Kodak Folding Camera with roll film. Eisenstaedt served in the German Army's artillery during World War I, and was wounded in 1918. While working as a belt and button salesman in the 1920s in Weimar Germany, Eisenstaedt began taking photographs as a freelancer for the Pacific and Atlantic Photos' Berlin office in 1928. The office was taken over by Associated Press in 1931.
Eisenstaedt successfully became a full-time photographer in 1929. Four years later he photographed a meeting between Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini in Italy. Other notable, early pictures by Eisenstaedt include his depiction of a waiter at the ice rink of the Grand Hotel in St. Moritz in 1932 and Joseph Goebbels at the League of Nations in Geneva in 1933. Although initially friendly, Goebbels scowled for the photograph when he learned that Eisenstaedt was Jewish.
Because of oppression in Hitler's Nazi Germany, Eisenstaedt emigrated to the United States in 1935 where he lived in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, for the rest of his life. He worked as a staff photographer for Life magazine from 1936 to 1972. His photos of news events and celebrities, such as Dagmar, Sophia Loren and Ernest Hemingway, appeared on 90 Life covers. Eisenstaedt was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1989 by President George Bush in a ceremony on the White House lawn.
Eisenstaedt, known as "Eisie" to his close friends, enjoyed his annual August vacations on the island of Martha's Vineyard for 50 years. During these summers, he would conduct photographic experiments, working with different lenses, filters, and prisms in natural light. Eisenstaedt was fond of Martha's Vineyard's photogenic lighthouses, and was the focus of lighthouse fundraisers organized by Vineyard Environmental Research, Institute (VERI).
Eisenstaedt's last photographs were of President Bill Clinton with wife, Hillary, and daughter, Chelsea, on August 1993, at the Granary Gallery in West Tisbury on Martha's Vineyard.

Eisenstaedt died in his bed at midnight at his beloved Menemsha Inn cottage known as the "Pilot House" at age 96

Creed - One

"One" is a song composed by the rock band Creed. From their 1997 album My Own Prison, it describes the lack of unity in modern society and includes a criticism of affirmative action. It was the band's fourth single. It was also included as a B-Side on the maxi single for their song "With Arms Wide Open".

"One" was released as the last single from the band's debut album My Own Prison in early 1999, and was arguably the most successful single from the album, peaking at #49 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart. "One" was also the only song off Creed's first album that charted on the Billboard Hot 100, charting at number 70. It is one of Creed's highest charting rock singles as well, reaching high chart positions on both the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks and the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks charts, rising to number 2 on both, and becoming one of their all-time most successful singles on the Modern Rock Tracks where it spent a total of 31 weeks. This song was used as WWE superstar Ricky Steamboat's entrance theme in 2006 and 2007 RAW Live Events.

The Highwaymen - Highwayman (historic photos) HD

The Highwaymen were a Country music supergroup comprising four of the genre's biggest artists well known for their pioneering influence on the outlaw country subgenre: Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. Active between 1985 and 1995, these four artists recorded three major label albums as The Highwaymen: two on Columbia Records and one for Liberty Records. Their Columbia works produced three chart singles, including the Number One "Highwayman" in 1985.

While not credited as the Highwaymen, between the years of 1997 and 1999, Nelson, Kristofferson, Cash, and Jennings also provided the voice and dramatization for the Louis L'Amour Collection, a four CD box set of seven Louis L'Amour Stories published by the HighBridge Company.

Besides the 4 members, only one recording vocal artist ever appeared on a Highwaymen recording, Johnny Rodriguez (Spanish vocal on 'Deportee', a Woody Guthrie cover, from "Highwayman").

Formed in 1985, the group did not have an official name when they released their first album on Columbia Records. The album, entitled Highwayman, was credited to "Nelson, Jennings, Cash, Kristofferson". The single "Highwayman", a Jimmy Webb cover, became a No. 1 country hit. Their cover of Guy Clark's "Desperados Waiting for a Train" reached the Top 20. (Clark is frequently referred to as "The Fifth Highwayman".) The album was produced by Chips Moman.

In 1990, the group reunited for a second effort, titled Highwayman 2, which reached No. 4 on the country album charts. The Lee Clayton-penned song "Silver Stallion" was the first single and made the country Top 40. The album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Collaboration. Highwayman 2 was produced, once again, by Moman. Six of the songs were written or co-written by members of the group.

The group's final release prior to Jennings' death in 2002 was 1995's Don Was-produced album The Road Goes on Forever (a Robert Earl Keen cover), and its single, "It Is What It Is". The four singers then returned to their solo careers. A tenth-anniversary edition of The Road Goes on Forever appeared in 2005, with several bonus tracks added as well as, in some versions, a DVD containing the music video for "It Is What It Is" and a documentary entitled Live Forever -- In the Studio with the Highwaymen.

Bald Eagles Eating Tagged Salmon / Eagle Nova Films

Bald Eagles eating a tagged salmon in the Chehalis River estuary in Harrison Mills, British Columbia, Canada. This video was shot from Eagle Point (near the Sandpiper Golf Course). This is the Harrison River just prior to entering Fraser River.

This video was recorded on the morning of November 3, 2013. We didn't notice the yellow "tag" on the salmon until we started editing this shot. Not being familiar with the tagging of fish, we were initially a bit confused; and wondered, "How did a yellow 'sticker' end up on a salmon?"

We've learned that this is one way fish are tagged by researchers who hope to learn more about them (population, travels, etc).

We've learned about some specific tagging studies in British Columbia and Alaska, but at this point, we have no specific information about the tag in this video (who tagged the fish, where was it tagged).

We'll update this video's description if we learn more about this specific tag.

This video was shot from a distance of about 200 meters.

Nikon D4 Hands On & Speedtest

I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor) Apple unveils the new iPhone 5S and the cheaper iPhone 5C in a Beijing news conference, but analysts say it is still too expensive.

Full Story:
Apple unveiled the new iPhone 5S and the cheaper iPhone 5C in Beijing on Wednesday, but analysts and consumers say the phones are still too expensive to compete with cheaper Asian rivals.

For the first time, Apple held a launch event in Beijing, hours after it unveiled the two new handsets at the company's california headquarters on Tuesday.

Reporters played with samples of the phones, but many were disappointed that the launch was essentially just a video replay of the U.S. event.

The plastic-backed iPhone 5C will sell for 730 U.S. dollars in China, almost 200 U.S. dollars more than the United States retail price and only 130 dollars less than its top-of-the-line sibling, the 5S.

New Apple product releases tend to generate a great deal of buzz, but the 5C's reception in China, where fans have been known to queue for days for new products, was lukewarm at best.

Apple's share of the China smartphone market slipped to 5 percent in the second quarter, according to research firm Canalys.

Apple's trailing not just South Korea's Samsung but also Chinese brands Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei and Xiaomi.

Xiaomi, a company just three years old, has been dubbed as China's Apple, and its billionaire, black shirt and jeans-wearing CEO Lei Jun compared to Steve Jobs.

The new smartphone being launched cost just 330 U.S. dollars, and their hugely popular smartphone, the Hongmi, sells for even less, at 130 U.S. dollars.

[Shaun Rein, Managing Director, China Market Research Group]: (english)
"Apple is no longer the cool, aspiration purchase that Chinese in their 20's all want. Their brand image has deteriorated in the last quarter, and young Chinese all want Chinese brands like Xiaomi, and even Lenovo. Because these are at the right price point. They're about 30 to 40 percent cheaper than Apple, but actually they have all the same bells and whistles as Apple.

Counting Crows - Mr. Jones

"Mr. Jones" is a song by American alternative rock band Counting Crows. It is the lead single and third track from their debut album, August and Everything After (1993). It was the band's first radio hit and remains one of their most popular singles.

"Mr. Jones" entered the American Top 40 on February 19, 1994, and entered the Top 10 five weeks later. On April 23, "Mr. Jones" passed R. Kelly's "Bump n' Grind", taking the number-one position (which it surrendered, the following week, to Prince's "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World").

The band's surprise success happened to coincide with Kurt Cobain's death. These events took a significant toll on Adam Duritz, the lead vocalist and principal songwriter. Said Duritz in an interview: "We heard that, that [Kurt] had shot himself. And it really scared the hell out of me because I thought, these things in my life are getting so out of control...". These events and feelings were the basis for "Catapult", the first track of Recovering the Satellites.

The primary topic of the song itself is perhaps how two struggling musicians (Duritz and bassist Marty Jones of The Himalayans) "want to be big stars," believing that "when everybody loves me, I will never be lonely" Duritz would later recant these values, and in later concert appearances, "Mr. Jones" was played in a subdued acoustic style, if at all. Most directly referencing this, on the live CD Across a Wire Duritz changes the lyrics "We all wanna be big, big stars, but we got different reasons for that" to "We all wanna be big, big stars, but then we get second thoughts about that," and "when everybody loves you, sometimes that's just about as funky as you can be" to "when everybody loves you, sometimes that's just about as fucked up as you can be."

The song is often interpreted differently. Some believe it is a thinly veiled reference to the protagonist of Bob Dylan's "Ballad of a Thin Man", a theory supported by the lyric "I wanna be Bob Dylan, Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky." Others have suggested that Mr. Jones refers to Marty Jones's father, although the lyric "she dances while his father plays guitar" seems to suggest Mr Jones' father is another separate character within the song. Another possibility is that Mr. Jones is an imaginary friend.

When the Counting Crows performed the song during the Recovering the Satellites tour, it would often include the first verse from The Byrds' "So You Want to Be a Rock and Roll Star?" This version was often acoustic and was even performed on VH1's Storytellers.

According to Duritz, the song title had a hand in the naming by Jonathan Pontell of "Generation Jones," the group of people born between 1954 and 1965. "I feel honored that my song Mr. Jones was part of the inspiration for the name 'Generation Jones.'"

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony (photo slideshow) HD

"Bitter Sweet Symphony" is a song by English alternative rock band The Verve, the lead track on their third album, Urban Hymns. It is based on music from an Andrew Loog Oldham adaptation of a Rolling Stones song, "The Last Time". It was released on 16 June 1997 by Hut Recordings as the first single from the album, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart. The song's momentum built slowly in the United States throughout the latter months of 1997, ultimately leading to a CD single release on 3 March 1998 by Virgin Records America, helping the song to reach number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also became famous for the legal controversy surrounding plagiarism charges. It was the 79th best selling single in the United States in 1998. In the Triple J Hottest 100 of All Time, 2009 (an online music poll conducted by the Australian radio station Triple J) the track was voted the 14th best song of all time. Rolling Stone ranked "Bitter Sweet Symphony" as the 392nd best song of all time. In May 2007, NME magazine placed "Bitter Sweet Symphony" at number 18 in its list of the "50 Greatest Indie Anthems Ever". In September 2007, a poll of 50 songwriters published in Q magazine placed "Bitter Sweet Symphony" in a list of the "Top 10 Greatest Tracks". Pitchfork Media included the song at number 29 on their "Top 200 Tracks of the 90s" list. In 2011, NME placed it at number 9 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years".
