Elvin Bishop - Fooled Around And Fell In Love (1976)

"Fooled Around and Fell in Love" was a single by blues guitarist Elvin Bishop. It appeared on his 1975 album Struttin' My Stuff and was released as a single the following year. Bishop does not sing lead vocals on the track; feeling that his gravelly voice didn't do the song justice, he invited vocalist Mickey Thomas who was a background singer in his band at the time, to sing it. The song peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in May 1976. The record was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on June 23, 1976.

Based on his work with Bishop, Thomas was invited to become the lead singer for Jefferson Starship.[3] T.G. Sheppard had a #21 country hit with a cover of the song in 1985. The song featured in the films Boogie Nights (1997), Invincible (2006) and Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008).

Walter Egan - Magnet and Steel

Walter Egan (born July 12, 1948, Jamaica, New York) is an American rock musician, best known for his 1978 gold status hit single "Magnet and Steel" from his album Not Shy, produced by Lindsey Buckingham and Richard Dashut of Fleetwood Mac fame. The song reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #32 on the Australian Singles Chart (Kent Music Report).

Buckingham also co-produced Egan's first album, Fundamental Roll, with Stevie Nicks. "Magnet and Steel", inspired by Nicks,[citation needed] was featured in the 1997 film Boogie Nights, as well as in the 1998 film Overnight Delivery and the 1999 film Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo. Egan also wrote "Hearts on Fire", which was covered by Gram Parsons on his album Grievous Angel, and "Hot Summer Nights", which was the first hit for the band Night, which included such session musicians as Nicky Hopkins (who played piano with Egan on later albums) and Robbie McIntosh. Egan scored minor hits with his own version of "Hot Summer Nights", as well as "Only the Lucky" and "Fool Moon Fire".

Egan later toured as a member of a latter-day version of Spirit, as well as having been a full member of both The Brooklyn Cowboys and The Malibooz.

Egan once[when?] appeared as a contestant on the television game show Scrabble. During his introduction segment, Egan identified himself as a singer and songwriter. Chuck Woolery asked him if we would know any of his songs, at which point he sang the main hook from "Magnet and Steel". Unfortunately, Egan was not the champion that day.

From Classic Retro Glamour:

"I hope you find this style glamorous enough for you all..! The roll on the side will be easier to create if you use a hair rat, but I didn't use one this time. It's easier to make the roll more even and make it look more neat. Pomade is also a helpful tool with this kind of style, since you want it to look nice and sleek! Flyaways are a no, no!

CALIFORNIA GIRLS - The Beach Boys - Marilyn Monroe images

The Top hit of 1965 by The Beach Boys,
and images of Hollywood Legend Marilyn Monroe.
Marilyn knew how to project the joy of
living, and happiness. She liked the
professional touch, and worked with the
best photographers . Her photos are
everywhere. She had a zest for life...

Selected quotes from Lee Strasberg´s
eulogy, August 1962:

"Marilyn Monroe was a legend. In her own lifetime she created a myth of what a poor girl from a deprived background could attain. For the entire world she became a symbol of the eternal feminine."

"Others were as physically beautiful as she was, but there was obviously something more in her, something that people saw and recognized in her performances and with which they identified. She had a luminous quality - a combination of wistfulness, radiance, yearning - to set her apart and yet make everyone wish to be a part of it, to share in the childish naivete which was so shy and yet so vibrant.".

Denise Lasalle - Lick It Before You Stick It

Denise LaSalle (born July 16, 1939, Belzoni, Mississippi, United States) is an American R&B/soul and blues singer, songwriter, and record producer.

Most sources give her name at birth as Denise Craig, although it has also been stated that she was born Denise Allen, and that the name Craig derives from an early marriage. Raised in Belzoni, Mississippi, she sang in local churches before moving to Chicago in the early 1960s. She sat in with R&B musicians and wrote songs, influenced by country music as well as the blues, before winning a recording contract with Chess Records in 1967. Her first single, "A Love Reputation" was a modest regional hit.

After establishing an independent production company, Crajon, with her then husband Bill Jones, her first major success came in 1971 when her self-penned song, "Trapped By A Thing Called Love" was released on Detroit-based Westbound Records. This reached #1 on the national R&B chart and #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song ranked at #85 on the 1971 year-end chart. The RIAA gold disc award was made on 30 November 1971 for a million sales.

She also wrote successful follow-ups, "Now Run And Tell That" and "Man Sized Job" which made #3 and #4 in the R&B Top Ten and also charted in the Hot 100. Her early hits were recorded at the Hi recording studios in Memphis, operated by Willie Mitchell, using the cream of southern session players. She continued to have hits on Westbound and then on ABC Records through the mid 1970s, including "Love Me Right" (#10 R&B, #80 pop) She continued to produce and perform live. Her co-penned song, "Married, But Not to Each Other" (#16 R&B) was included in the 1979 The Best of Barbara Mandrell, compilation album.

In the early 1980s, she signed as a singer and songwriter with Malaco Records, for whom she released a string of critically acclaimed albums over more than 20 years, starting with Lady in the Street (1983) and Right Place, Right Time (1984). Both albums became major successes among soul blues, R&B and soul fans and on urban radio stations. In 1985, she enjoyed her only recognition in the UK Singles Chart, when her cover version of Rockin' Sidney's, "My Toot Toot", reached #6.

LaSalle appeared at the 1984 and 1993 versions of the Long Beach Blues Festival, and also in 1993, she performed at the San Francisco Blues Festival. Her 1997 album Smokin' In Bed was an unexpected commercial success. After more than a decade away, when she recorded three albums with small Memphis-based soul-blues label, Ecko, she returned to Malaco for her 2010 outing called "24 Hour Woman".

She continues to work as a live performer, particularly at festivals, and more recently has issued more gospel-tinged material. In 2011, she was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. LaSalle now lives in Jackson, Tennessee with her husband, James E. Wolfe.

The Swallows - It Ain't The Meat (It's The Motion)

This Baltimore-based vocal group called themselves The Swallows in deference to their mentors, The Orioles, who also hailed from the Baltimore area. "It Ain't The Meat" is a prime example of the type recording that was nearly impossible to get played on any mainstream radio station in the early 1950's.
Released in 1951, it climbed the R&B charts quickly and became quite a jukebox hit on the Southern coast. The Swallows soon toured with the Count Basie Orchestra as a result of their hits like this on the King label. The song was covered by Charlotte, NC's Poor Souls in the 1980's with a slight lyrical change to "It Ain't The Beat", but the songs were the same.

Big Maybelle ~ Whole 'Lotta Shakin Goin On (1955)

Big Mama Thornton - Hound Dog

This is the original version of Hound Dog by Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton back in 1952.Four years later Elvis made this song famous.Big Mama also wrote Ball & Chain another big and first hit for Janis Joplin.Big Mama is responsible for many things for blues history. Was also too a very good harmonica player.Enjoy this for now and i'll be back !!!

BIG CYNTHIA- EATING AIN'T CHEATING

Big Cynthia whose birth name is Cynthia Walker was born October 5, 1969 to Junior and Gloria Walker. The name Junior Walker was known in every household that was a fan of the Motwon era. So as a child, Big Cynthia had the Blues running through her veins.
At the age of 16, Big Cynthia landed a gig with one of Houston's local bands. Back then, the pay wasn't much but, is wasn't the money Cynthia was concerned with. It was the love for pleasing the crowd and that she did very well.

From that point, Cynthia was chosen to become an opening act until 1996 when Cynthia was signed to Avanti Records by CEO Johnny Vincent and in 1997 her first CD was released nationally under the name Cynthia Walker,"BabY I'm The Real Thing" in 1998.
Cynthia then joined the world wide talents of Mel Waiters and traveled all over the country and was later signed to a recording contract, in 1999 with Mel Waiters.

This was a big break for Cynthia. Between traveling and recording, Cynthia and Mel put their heads together and recorded a song that was written by Cynthia entitled, "Ain't Nothing Like A Big Woman". This song was written for all the big women all around the world. Cynthia being a big woman knows what it feels like and wrote this song to uplift big women. This song was already a hit, which was released in February 2002.

Big Cynthia's next CD was released April 2004 entitled "You Didn"t Take My Man, You Took My Problem". She continued to be with Mel Waiters (Brittney Records) for the Next 4 years until she received a call from Tony Mercedes of Tony Mercedes Records who produced her CD entitled "Doing It Big" and featuring Mr. David.

The result is 25 shots (7 in color!) of 9 models and 3 actresses. Milla Jovovich and Kate Moss seem to have an easy time--they've known Sorrenti for years. Actresses Margaret Made and Rinko Kikuchi seem to feel comfortable, although they are more known for being in films not being models. Runway favorites like Joan Smalls, Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly, and Saskia de Brauw says they like feeling powerful under Sorrenti's watchful eye. Lara Stone, Malgosia Bela, and and Edita Vilkeviciute make the whole thing look effortless.

Height: 5'7"
Weight: 115 lbs
Measurements: 34-23-34
Profession: Songwriter/Musician
Relationship Status: Single
Favorite Sports Team: Orlando Magic
Favorite Movie/Actor: Matt Damon
First Job: Waitress in a pizzeria
Piercings/Tattoos (How many? Where?): Belly ring, small tattoo of a black heart on my wrist. I want more!

What fun fact, talent, or mutant superpower of yours should guys know about?: I ride a YZ125 and a Yamaha Banshee. I love to get dirty!

What's the most memorable pick up line you've ever heard?: Have you ever heard of the line "You from Tennessee because you're the only Ten-I-see?" Well I heard one way cornier than that. He said "Are you from Mississippi, because you're the only Miss-I-ssippi." I thought it was so cute and cheesy that I actually gave him my number!

What's the craziest thing you've ever done?: I totally live in the moment and people tell me that I'm insane everyday.

What's the most unusual place you've ever hooked up? How'd it go?: Let's just say my ex-boyfriend and I got caught in a very holy place. Forgive me, father. It was raining and we didn't think anyone could see us!

Have you ever lied to get something for free? What was it?: I don't have to lie to get things for free. I buy myself whatever I want.

What do you feel most comfortable wearing?: Close to nothing. I hate bundling up and I hate the cold weather. I put the heat on full blast in my apartment during winter so that I can walk around in a little tank top and shorts.

Would you rather have boring sex all the time or an amazing romp once a year?: Hmmm! Good question. If I'm taken, I'd rather have boring sex all the time so that my partner can be satisfied... even if I'm not enjoying it.

How important is a guy's hair to you?: A guy's hair is important to me because there's nothing sexier than smelling a nice, clean head of hair. There is no bigger turn on. It has to be soft, shiny and smell great so I can run my fingers through it.

"Minutes" - A short film by Daniel Vonhoff

© Copyright Daniel Vonhoff 2011

Shot entirely from still images.

Artist Statement:
Any given time, at any given place in the world, the hands of time are busily ticking away. Think of somewhere you have been, or somewhere you know. Right now, time has not paused or stopped, even if nobody is there. "If a tree falls in the forest and nobody's around, does it make a sound?"

For millions of years, mother nature has continued to exist. Landscapes are constantly shaping and re-shaping. The oceans waves are always rolling in. We are alive for a moment, one second in the great abyss of time. Just one blink of an eye. Our existence seems so insignificant and un-important when compared to time itself.

"Minutes" uses time lapse photography combined with "tilt shift" photography techniques to make this more easily understood. From this strange view of the world, everything seems much simpler. People seem insignificant to what's really going on around them. The complex nature of the world is transformed into mere childsplay.

"Minutes" is just a small snapshot of a tiny section of the world. It shows that yes we are small, and yes we do appear insignificant to the 'big picture'. But it also shows that the 'big picture' is a beautiful one.

Understanding Colour For Digital Photo Editing

Yet another video from the EasyPSE iPhone/iPad video tutorial app, available on the Apple iTunes Store. I've produced a video in the past on understanding RGB but revisited it for the EasyPse app.

Understanding how colour works, in the digital world, is essential when it comes to tweaking the colour in your images. This concept seems initially confusing to many but it need not be, and hopefully this video will clarify the subject for you.

Once mastered, rather than stuff around at random trying to get the colour on your photos looking natural you will be in a far better position to make educated "guesses" at what corrections are required.

Smokey Robinson and The Miracles - The Tears Of A Clown

"The Tears of a Clown" is a song by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles for the Tamla (Motown) label, originally released on the 1967 album Make It Happen. It was re-released in the United Kingdom as a single in September 1970, where it became a #1 hit on the UK singles chart. Subsequently, Motown released "The Tears of a Clown" as a single in the United States as well, where it quickly became a #1 hit on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B Singles charts. It is an international multi-million seller and a 2002 Grammy Hall of Fame inductee. Its success caused Miracles lead singer, songwriter, and producer Smokey Robinson, who had announced plans to leave the act, to stay until 1972.

This has got to be the saddest day of my life.
I called you here today for a bit of bad news.
I wouldn't be able to see you anymore
Because of my obligation,
and the ties that you have.

We've been meeting here everyday,
And since this is our last day together.
I wanna hold you just one more time.
When you turn and walk away, don't look back.

I wanna remember you just like this
Let's just kiss and say goodbye.
I had to meet you here today,
There's just so many things to say.
Please don't stop me till I'm though,
This is something I hate to do.

We've been meeting here so long.
I guess what we've done was wrong.
Please, darling don't you cry,
Let's just kiss and say goodbye..

Many months have passed us by.
I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie.
I've got ties and so do you.
I just think this is the things to do.
It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie.
Maybe you'll meet, you'll meet another guy.
Understand me, won't you try, try, try.....
Let's just kiss and say goodbye.

Maybe you'll find, you'll find another guy.
Let's just kiss and say goodbye, pretty baby.
Please don't cry.
Understand me, won't you try?
Let's just kiss and say goodbye...

One Of The Most Touching Comments Ever Received

"I cry. Every time I hear that chorus. I am a 14 year-old boy. My brother leaves for the Air Force on January 24, 2012. Which is 2days from the day this comment was posted. A salute is given to America. And all of the soldiers."

I receive comments on my videos daily, and a lot of them truly touch my heart and soul in one way or another, and then there's the few that really make me stop and think. And, please - for just a minute - leave politics and your personal beliefs about war on the table for just a minute. But yeah - this young man's relatively short comment really floored me tonight and I just wanted to share it.

I just received it, and have yet to reply, so I'm going to really think about the things to say to a young kid dealing with his brother - someone he truly cares for - going off to war.

Blues Brothers - Peter Gunn Theme (funny photo slideshow)

The Blues Brothers (or, more formally, The Blues Brothers’ Show Band and Revue) are an American blues and soul revivalist band founded in 1978 by comedy actors Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi as part of a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live. Belushi and Aykroyd, respectively in character as lead vocalist "Joliet" Jake Blues and harmonica player/backing vocalist Elwood Blues, fronted the band, which was composed of well-known and respected musicians. The band made its debut as the musical guest on the April 22, 1978, episode of Saturday Night Live.

The band began to take on a life beyond the confines of the television screen, releasing an album, Briefcase Full of Blues, in 1978, and then having a Hollywood film, The Blues Brothers, created around its characters in 1980.

After the death of Belushi in 1982, the Blues Brothers have continued to perform with a rotation of guest singers and other band members. The band reformed in 1988 for a world tour and again in 1998 for a sequel to the film, Blues Brothers 2000. They make regular appearances at musical festivals worldwide.

On August 31, 2011 it was announced that Dan Aykroyd and Judy Belushi are pitching a new Blues Brothers TV series to primetime networks.

Whether you are searching for a career in fashion
modeling or glamour modeling, it is very important for you to realize that there is more to becoming a model than just standing there looking beautiful.

One very important factor in becoming a good model is posing, and in order for you to learn the different poses needed for the type of modeling career you are seeking it will take practice, practice, practice.

Make Your Posing Look Natural

When preparing for your photo shoot, there are
numerous steps you can take to ensure you are
comfortable while posing and your photos will look more natural.

Get Posing Ideas

Before you head to your photo shoot, pick at least ten poses you really like from fashion or glamour
magazines, or poses youve learned from previous
photo shoots. Take time to practice each pose in front of a mirror until you feel comfortable and have the confidence of knowing you look great doing these
poses.

Hands and Facial Expression

Also, focus on what to do with your hands and pay
attention to facial expressions. A pose is virtually dead and unimaginative without a look. You should be able to close your eyes, imagine a thought, open your eyes and sell that thought. Practice this technique and your photos will come alive.

Become an Idea Factory

Unless you are shooting for an advertising agency or some other type of special interest session many
photographers recommend that you bring some of your own posing ideas to the shoot. In addition to your
ideas, the photographer may have his or her own idea of how the session should go.

Rapport with Your Photographer

Always work with a photographer you feel you can trust. This will make communication between the two of you easier and give you the confidence to express your own ideas.

Always listen to what the photographer tells you. If you are really uncomfortable with the pose, let your
photographer know how you feel, in a nice way.
Remember, he is looking through the camera lens and might see something you dont.

If the photographer says she wants something different in the pose, try looking away from the camera or giving a unique facial expression. This is where your practice in front of the mirror really pays.

Posture

When posing you should always keep good posture unless the photographer instructs you to do otherwise.
Hold your stomach in to give your abdomen a more toned appearance. If you have gained a few pounds stick out your chin a little to avoid the appearance of a double chin in your photos.

Keep your fingers slightly apart and pointed away from the lens. Let your hands fall naturally into position
whenever possible. Remember, you want to be
yourself on purpose.

Now that you have learned what to do, consider these things you should try to avoid while posing.

Things to Avoid when Posing for a Photographer

Misplaced Body Language

Body language and expressions come naturally but the language you are projecting might not be what your photographer wants in a particular pose. You need to conciously focus on ways to prevent these habits while posing.

Dont hold your breath during a pose. Stay relaxed and your photos will look as if you just happened to be
sitting this way when the photographer walked up.

In most pose situations you want your arms, legs,
wrists, etc. slightly bent unless you are directed to do otherwise Most people dont stand or sit with their
arms and legs completely stiff. A good point to
remember is, if it will bend, bend it.

Mona Lisa Smile?

Another posing tip to remember is that you dont
always have to smile. You should have a good variety of smiling and serious looks. But, sometimes you will want to give a large, open-mouthed laugh. If you are susposed to be happy, look the part!

Your Eyes are the Windows to Your Soul

Dont always look straight into the camera. When you cut your eyes to the left or right, you create an air of mystery. When you look up and away, you are
annoyed. Tilt your chin slightly down and look straight ahead for a sexy look.

About Blinking

Beware of the Blink! If you have to blink, try to blink between exposures. This is not always easy,
especially if you are working in a photography studio.
Some models get into a habit of anticipating the
strobes and start to close their eyes when the picture is about to be snapped.

Get into the habit of not paying attention to the flash and concentrate wholy on the pose, your body
language, hand position, etc. and your images will
come out as you expect.

Be Bold!!

But I can't help, Falling in love with you

Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin?

Darling so it goes, somethings are meant to be

Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can't help, Falling in love with you
